Even if so, it would still be valuable to seek out and look for what you want. Then maybe you'd see opportunities that otherwise would pass you by. But I think there may be more to it, one way or another.. Here is something similar I think: a couple of times in the past few years, I have decided to try to just be more open to the world. I did not do anything specifically different, I just made a conscious effort to be open to people and whatever came my way. I don't think I looked or acted any different outwardly, but maybe I gave off a vibe or my body language was different, I don't know. But almost immediately when I'd take on this attitude, everyone and their dog started interacting with me. In fact it kind of became annoying and I think that's why I don't do it more often.
